Our take: the Transcend brings Grand Design's well-regarded customer support to a large family travel trailer. Layouts are spacious with good kitchens and bunk rooms, and the build is a step above typical entry-level trailers. These are long, heavy trailers, so a properly rated half-ton is the minimum and many buyers are happier with a 3/4-ton.

Best for

Large families who want space and a well-supported brand

Watch out

Every floorplan is over 30 ft and 6,300 lbs dry; a half-ton truck is the minimum

What owners are saying

Likes

  • Spacious bunkhouse layouts for big families
  • Grand Design's responsive factory support
  • Strong resale and dealer availability

Things to check

  • Long trailers can sway without a good hitch setup
  • Check slide-out operation and seals at the walkthrough
  • Factory tires are a common early upgrade
