Our take: the R-Pod built its following on being light, distinctive and easy to tow. Newer models are larger than the original teardrop-like design but still sit at the light end of the market, so many SUVs and midsize trucks can handle them. Space is tight inside, and the wet baths are compact, but couples love how little planning a trip takes.

Best for

Couples and small families towing with an SUV or midsize truck

Watch out

Compact interiors; dealer prices are thin right now (only a few listings)
